DIY Chronological Halloween Banner

Hello COM Readers!
My name is Brooke and you can find me at Design Stash blogging about DIY projects, furniture redo’s, crafts and decorating tips and tricks!
I am SO thrilled to be contributing on one of my favorite blogs and so happy that Jen has given me the opportunity!
I wanted to share with you today a fun craft for Halloween and a great way to display and organize all of those Halloween pictures!

I see these adorable kraft bags everywhere lately so I thought I would use them to store yearly Halloween pics and memorabilia! THEN came the idea to string them together to create a fun banner showcasing all of our memories over the years!
I used these cute striped kraft bags, some Halloween patterned paper, ribbon and year labels. To make the labels I used my printer and selected a different font for each year, printed them on white cardstock and inked the edges with a black stamp pad.

Lay your bags out and glue (I used a simple glue stick  any size piece of patterned paper to your bags. I cut some rectangles, some squares and even traced a circle using my ribbon spool for a couple!
After the patterned paper is glued on, glue your year labels any which way you want.
Punch holes into the corners of your bags. Make sure to leave enough space to be able to slip your pictures into the bag 🙂 Tie together with some cute ribbon!
I wanted to be able to store pictures and include a snippet of information about that years festivities, costumes and such! I stamped a journaling template onto white card stock and slipped that in the bag along with my pictures.
Use a longer piece of ribbon or tulle on each end for hanging.
Finish tying all your bags together and filling them with fun Halloween memories! Then hang up and enjoy!

This was so much fun! Thanks Jen for having me!!

  1. This is such a great idea! I was pulling out my kids’ costumes from last year and I got so emotional over how much has changed in just one short year. This is a very unique way to celebrate all of those fun times!
