Feautred Guest Post- {Beautiful Fall Pumpkin Mobile}
HELLO THERE CRAFTOMANIAC’S- We are the husband and wife duo over at
The Rooster and The Hen we created this Fall Pumpkin Mobile out of yard sale finds. we’ve got tons of ideas on decorating, crafting, and DIYing on the cheap.
This is a very happy me after picking up all these pumpkins for a quarter a piece. I had seen a picture on Martha Stewart of stacked painted pumpkins and was excited to try it.
Later that same day, I came upon a sale with several hundred dollars worth of high-end metallic paints, and the owner practically gave them away. I wasn’t entirely sure what I’d be doing with them, but how could I walk away?
Turns out, however, that everyone and their brother has been hard at work creating their own version of stacked painted pumpkins this season, so I had to come up with a new plan.
I knew that I would be painting the pumpkins with my metallic paint, but didn’t want to just stack them like I’ve seen so many times this year- a look that I still love BTW. Finally, it hit me. I’d try hanging them outside my door like ornaments. But alas, the crappy weather we’ve got made that almost impossible, and I wasn’t in the mood to be patient for the storm to pass.
I started off by painting each pumpkin a different harvesty metallic shade. While they were drying, we fastened the wreath using bits of flexible wire to the center of the light fixture.
Then, I strung the pumpkins with some clear thread (yes, another score from that same magical day) and tied them at various lengths to the wreath itself. We liked the look of it, but thought it needed a bit more, so we added a few painted leaves to give it the umph it needed.
All in all, the whole project didn’t take more then an hour or so. My dining room finally looks like it’s ready for fall, and I’m ready to curl up with a book and hot chocolate and get ready for fall myself.
Thanks so much for the feature Jen! Can’t wait to get this button on our featured page!
Such a fun post!
This is gorgeous!
I need to go to that city to yard sales! Fantastic finds, and I love what you did with them!
You have much better garage sales than we do! All we see around here are baby clothes and furniture! I love this look…very impressive and creative.
What a find and you made it look beautiful!
