Chalk Painted Turquoise Side Table

I don’t think I have mentioned just how much I love Ace Hardware. Before I moved more to the city, I lived in a smaller town and I loved visiting the Ace Hardware there too. I mean, hello, free popcorn, home decor, home-improvement items, paint, and the list goes on and on.
I remember about two years ago I wanted to attempt my first chalk-based paint project. So I ventured to Ace Hardware and picked up some Amy Howard paint. I used it on my craft- organization cubby, and the whole process went well and I love my chalk-painted cubby.
Fast forward to now, and living in the city. I headed to my “now” Ace Hardware, because they carry pretty much everything, everything including chalk-based paint- and, “even better, At Home® One Step™ chalk-based paint.” So I grabbed some more and when I got home to paint my little side table, I realized it’s the same chalk paint and color I used on my craft cubby a few years ago. I really love that the pieces go together much better now, having them both in my craft room.
Amy Howard chalk-based paint works so well. I used two coats, but if the piece was white, I would have needed only one coat. Amy Howard chalk-based paint goes on really nicely and is forgiving too. I love it.
Below are a couple “before” shots. This table was thrifted for under 20 bucks, and it is way cute. It has a bottom shelf cubby and two magazine/book slots on each side. It’s great for any space, and I love it in my craft room.
Before.
After
One small chalk-based paint tub did the job.
Before
After! And with a light sanding here and there.
I just love how it turned out. Also, to show how it matches my Amy Howard chalk-painted craft cubby, here is a picture of that too.
So what do you all think? You, too, can find your color at Ace Hardware. Also, be sure to check out next month, as it’s my finale project working with Ace Hardware. It’s my favorite project thus far.

Looks marvelous.
My parents have a table like that one. It is an old radio table. They were a common high school shop project back in the 30s and 40s.
Hi Donna, Oh’ how cool, I love getting a piece of history with an up-cycle. Thanks for sharing. jen
