Kids Craft~ Shrinky Dink Backpack Tags

Hi Craft-O-Maniac readers, I’m Heidi and I am excited to share a  fun and unique kid craft that pairs perfectly with Valentine’s Day.  I blog over at greendoodle and am a general hands-in-all-kinds-of-creating kind of girl. My main passion is creating children’s clothing, but I often post crafts and home decor that fit what’s going on in our world at the time.
Today’s project is a favorite around our house.  We love making shrinky dink art.  There’s something magical about watching the plastic curl up and thicken.  (No, not very poetic…. but you’ll see.  It is cool!)
Using a sheet of shrink plastic- or a no. 6 recyclable plastic take out container,  have your child (or yourself) draw a colorful image about 2″ square. We used sharpies and colored pencils.  Cut out the image and use a standard sized hole punch at the top of your drawing.  Punch the hole fairly close to edge, as it can be hard to attach the clasp.

Pop it in the oven following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Attach clasp (purchased at chain craft store) and enjoy. My girls like to clip them on their backpacks, purses, sometimes even sweater  buttonholes.
Here is last year’s version.  It looks a bit cluttered in photos, but if you’d like you can download it here.

And although my graphic skills still look like a 10 year old, You are welcome to this version as well.

Enjoy!
How cute are these Shrinky dinks? your kids would just love to make these and design them. Thank you so much Heidi for sharing them on COM today.
