{{{SEW Fantastic}}}
UMMMMM “HELLO”… I adore my SINGER SEWING mAcHiNe ITS
“SEW FANTASTIC”
I have crossed over the threshold into SEWING- EEK! My mil was a complete generous dear and just bought me a sewing machine, i know CRAZY NICE RIGHT? I LOVE HER TO DEATH!
So the lovely man in brown delivered it on the 21st. Love that man in brown. My mil said I am going to be hooked…. but I so had my doubts…. GUESS WHAT? …. SHE WAS RIGHT! I AM HOOKED!
NOW no one laugh … stitches are crooked things are wonky, thread is all white because I am still playing… things clearly aren’t perfect. Not to mention the fabric patterns are ok and not favs… BUT I AM IN THE beginning stages of sewing, so I don’t want to ruin any super fab. fabric yet. BABY STEPS RIGHT? Ohhh’ do i see chevron fabric in my future…. UM’ YES!
here is some of the things i have been playing around with just to get a feel for the sewing machine….
FIRST MEET MISS “SUSIE SEW” YUP’ she has a name, we are BFF’S TOO!
i made a cute stitched paper coupon holder, a cute flower pin, two small purses for Miss Priss and a cute cell phone pouch.
I also had to figure out ruffles… (trial and error of course.) I am girly girl and love me some ruffles. I made Miss Priss a “Alice fabric bracelet.”
my sissy…. “ALSO MY BFF” came over and I made her a cute teal and black fabric bracelet that attach by velcro btw… I made myself the pink zebra one.
AFTER MISS PRISS’S STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE PARTY… ME AND SUSIE ARE GOING TO HAVE MORE BFF time together.
THANKS FOR STOPPING BY.

Congrats! You are going to have sew much fun! Sometimes I try to think of what life was like before I sewed and I don’t remember (and it’s only been a few years, lol). Have a good time! 🙂
I don’t sew at all. In fact, I’m allergic to it. I am not at all surprised that you took to it so quickly. Some of us have the gift…some don’t. I fall into that “don’t” category!
Oh my gosh, you’re on a sewing rampage already!!! Great work 🙂 It’s obvious you’re having fun
Girl, you are on a ROLL! There is no better way to get use to your sewing machine than to actually USE IT! Do not be afraid to try it! What I started off doing was googling “Easy sewing tutorial” and then just trying project after project until I actually knew what I was doing. 🙂 Your new BFF is so pretty and I can’t wait to see what else you make with her!
YAY!! you go GIRL!! I have been sewing like crazy too!…I recently just took a leap of faith and made my first handbag! After being terrified to death of patterns and the word “handbag” I did it! and it was not bad! And I KNOW you can too! Here is the link and I hope you put this on your list of TO-DO’s of SEWING! here is the link : http://keepinitthriftyandrea.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-first-handbag-free-pattern.html
XOXO Andrea
Love all the stuff you have made!!! I just got my sewing machine last week and all I have done so far is a ruffle butt onsie! lol. I am itching to try more though! I never thought I would get into sewing, but I am hooked too!

Those are all so cute! The coupon holder looks especially handy. I couldn’t believe that you were new at sewing…had to read your post twice! What a great MIL to give you such a generous gift. How blessed you are to have her! Have an awesome time sewing!!!
Love all your projects! You did such a FABULOUS job on everything! I especially love the coupon holder 🙂 Hope you enjoy a wonderful day!

I learned to sew when I was about 12. Until then my mother didn’t trust us to use her machine. I started with pillows and pillowcases. By the time I was in high school I was making almost all my own clothes – including my Easter outfit – sheath, jacket with bound buttonholes and HAT!!
After marriage I graduated to home decor (actually easier than clothes) like placemats & napkins, curtains, and going on to slipcovers.
Now, in my 60’s, I’m back to sewing after about a 20-year hiatus. I’m practicing with the stitches and capabilities of my machine.
I’m loving it and so will you.
Congrats on having a wonderful MIL and the desire to sew. It’s something you’ll never regret learning. And you are doing great.
I will be making potholders with my granddaughters 7 and 9 this weekend. I bet they would love the bracelets even better.
Thanks for the ideas.
Congrats on the new machine!! I love sewing. The more you practice the better you’ll get. Once you get the hang of it try a simple skirt, making clothes for yourself is so much fun. 😉
Those are fabulous! Sewing is so fun – I have only sewn a few things, but have been wanting to get a new machine and start again. My sewing machine “disappeared” after we moved?! It’s an unsolved mystery!
Yay! You go girl!
