Burlap Paper & Vinyl Flag Frame

BEFORE~
ARE YOU SMILING OR GIGGLING?… I can’t look at this pic. and not giggle. wink wink! This was a huge frame 10×13 or something like that. I dug it out of my garage with some other old frames. That is my darling chubby son Preston when he was 3 mos. old. He is “8” now. Mom got him to smile big … isn’t it so cute? I adore this pic. However, I recycled the frame. LET ME SHOW YOU HOW~

AFTER~

HERE IS A HOW TO~ I started this craft by painting the old oak laminate frame with acrylic paint. “burgundy barn red.” Let dry.

then I painted over the burgundy barn red a “bleached sand” acrylic paint. I let it dry and then I sanded it. It looks so cute with the red peeking through.

I cut out my paper into thick inch strips. I used my first cut as a guide for the other two.

Then I used my FAV. Distress Ink and distressed all the paper. I love that old time photo/paper look.

Once you have everything cut, painted, sanded, distressed, glued and placed in the frame, you can add your vinyl to the top of the glass. I used the Platinum School book cartridge that goes to your cricut. You can always do the vinyl first if you choose. Note, this would be just as cute without the vinyl, so if you don’t have a cricut or can’t barrow one, nor have any vinyl. No worries!!! I did go with a summer type saying… So I can keep it out throughout summer not just the 4th!
