There is now a popular phrase, “sitting is the new smoking.” There’s a lot of scientific backing behind this statement, as exposure to long hours of sitting down has lots of unprecedented negative impacts. Based on extensive research, medical personnel now advise people not to spend too much time sitting as it might impact their health.

    This may sound pretty obvious too, but for your tailbone cushions to work properly, you need to use them in a chair with a back for extra support. This is because the cushion naturally helps by eliminating the pressure on your pelvis and spine and improving your posture by elevating your hips. 
  3. Use The Tailbone Cushion Directly With Your Seat
    You’ll not reap the maximum benefits of a coccyx cushion if you use it with other types of cushions or pillows while sitting. Adding an extra pillow makes you sit unevenly, which in turn makes your pressure and weight uneven. This is quite unhealthy for your back.
    Using a coccyx pillow by itself makes it easier for the user to determine how they want to use it:
    either by it laying flat or slightly sloping. Of course, it all depends on one’s preferences. 
  4. Add Hot Packs Or Ice Packs For Extra Relief
    The main advantage that tailbone cushions have over other products is the fact that they are heat sensitive. This means you can add hot packs or ice cubes to help provide extra relief. An easy method to achieve this type of therapy is by wrapping the packs in towels and placing them on either side of the cushion.
    It would be prudent to note that some tailbone cushions come with a gel that you can either warm or freeze, making the entire process of getting heat therapy easier. 
  5. Keep The Cushion Clean
    Whenever you’re shopping for a coccyx cushion, ensure that it is machine-washable. This is because such products are quite prone to sweat, dirt, and spillages. Always try to keep it clean at all times. If it is not machine-washable, you can go ahead and get a cover that you can easily clean on a regular.
