How To Build And Organise A Storage Rack

We use storage racks for all sorts of things. But rarely do we think carefully about how to organize them optimally.

It’s not a trivial matter. Organizing your stuff can help you free up space in your home and enjoy it more. It makes a big difference in your day to day existence. Instead of trying to guess where things are, you have somewhere you can immediately grab items, and put them to good use.

Storing stuff is one of the biggest of all homemaking challenges. We live such complicated lives these days that we tend to accumulate enormous quantities of material. No matter how many accessories we think we have, there’s always something else that we desperately need. Sometimes it can drive you mad.

Fortunately, there are plenty of aftermarket DIY storage shelving units that you can buy these days. And many of them are suitable for rented accommodation. You don’t need to nail them into the wall. Also, you can find a chest of drawers on Tylko.com website that’ll do pretty much the same thing, if you need to store clothes.

These storage solutions are also great for people living with limited mobility. You just place the storage close to where you spend most of your time and then grab stuff, as and when you need it.

Constructing storage racks is the easy part. Most come flat packed with plenty of instructions. Usually, the only thing you need is a set of screwdrivers, and you’re ready to go.

Sometimes, the systems are slightly more complicated, but nothing you can’t handle with a little thought and effort. Where possible, try to choose a rack that is the right fit for your living arrangements. For instance, if you only have a small amount of space next to your bed, choose a narrow rack that can actually fit in the allotted space.

Keep Like With Like

As any pro will tell you, keeping like with like is a great way to organize your rack, so that stuff isn’t strewn randomly all over the place. Keep hair bands and accessories in one part of the storage area and electronics in another. Place your books at one end, and then put your DVDs and so on in another. When it comes to finding things, this will make it much more manageable. You can quickly create a mental map and then just grab stuff without even thinking about it.

Make It Look Attractive

The next step is to make it look more attractive. Pre-packed solutions aren’t always the prettiest, so you’ll want to add things like incense sticks and plants, either inside the rack or on top of it – whichever you feel suits your home the best.

Extend It Along The Entire Wall

If you have a lot of things in your home, you don’t want to skimp on storage. Everything should have its place. If possible, extend the racking along the entire wall. When it comes to organization, you either go big or go home!
