Dollar Tree "Sew" Boxes

I made these for my MIL tonight. SHE IS THE MOST AMAZING seamstress I know… she creates the most darling things for my kids. I am so lucky to have her as my kids INNIE (as they call her) I have been asking her to make the kids Halloween costumes for the last 3 years, and I just told her their costumes this year. I am so grateful for her help. She has a sewing room and a built in table and I just thought these boxes would be darling on her table. She can fill them with buttons, thread, needles, whatever she likes. INNIE you get to see these early.. SO SURPRISE!

SO DO YOU ALL REMEMBER THESE? well I went back to the dollar store again today to buy more boxes….HA~ they were pretty much gone. All the small boxes that were two in one were gone. So I couldn’t get the small ones. However, they had some bigger ones that worked. I was able to get the last three huge ones. So anyway, I have a million ideas for these boxes and wanted to buy “5” sets, but could only get “3” plus a cute BLACK AND WHITE SET… that will be a girly one I will be doing. The other two sets will be HALLOWEEN ones I can’t wait to show you them.

~BEFORE~

~AFTER~ I painted the lids all a different color~ Acrylic paint. Painted the boxes vintage white. Layed out my button pattern onto the box, and carefully without bumping the box hot glued them down one by one. It is time consuming but worth it.

I took mini spools of thread I had on hand along with some needles and hot glued the spools of thread on top and added the needles as well. A bobbin or thimble would be cute glued to the top too. I didn’t have those on hand.

THESE ARE ON THERE WAY TO YOU SOON INNIE!
