Hula Barbie Cake
HELLO GUYS~ sorry my posts have been lacking.. I will get on some crafts and get posting.
So summer is almost here, which means my daughters 5th birthday will be here August 1st. I have no clue what I am doing for her party this year???? However, I wanted to share with you her cake from her 4TH birthday party last year.
A”Hula Barbie Beach cake”
You can buy the barbie cake molds at most craft stores. I got mine at Roberts Crafts. You can certainly use your own barbie. I tried with a blonde one to resemble more my daugthers coloring… but it stood to tall. So I used the “half” barbie that the cake mold comes with. I did however use the bikini top from the blonde beach barbie I bought. I put the barbie’s hair up and added the sunglasses. My little sister helped make the grass hula looking skirt.
First we dyed the white frosting a hula grass green, and frosted the cake all over. Then we used a tiny round tip and started from the top of the skirt following down to make what looked like grass skirt pieces. It was easy.
The cute candles you see were from the dollar store, last year. However, I am sure they have them back for this summer.
I used mini. hair clips that I cut in half and placed on the cake.
It of course, was a hit for the birthday girl… I HOPE i CAN TOP last years party….. WILL SEE!
and here is Hula Barbie saying “HAVE A SLICE!” It was s”girly” Strawberry cake! moist and delish!
so so cute! i’ve done a bride cake before similar to this but with The Pampered Chefs Small Batter Bowl!! It came out really cute!
That is so cute! 😀
So cute. I’m trying to plan Lukas’s 5th birthday too. He is in August as well so I thought I better get planning. Have you thought of a Alice In Wonderland Party. There are so many cute ideas out in blogland for one.
That is such a cute cake! I want a piece right now to eat! I want to be able to make cute cakes, it is on my list to learn!
Oh how fun! I made one of these for my niece when she turned 5 but I used a ‘real’ Barbie! She loved it…but I decorated it as a dress…really like the hula idea!
how cute is this! If only I had a girl.
Wait i’ll make it for myself!
Now, this is just too cute! I love it! Great job! 🙂
If you want to use a real barbie, bake another round cake and add to the bottom of your dress-dome thingy cake. I haven’t ever done this, I just heard you could.
I love it! I still remember the Barbie cake my mom made for me when I was little! Too cute!
Wow, that is so cute. I love the hulu skirt!

I love these!! Your version is super cute with the candles. My daughter will be 5 in July. I have decided to do a pajama party (a small kids version of a slumber party. There will be no slumbering here!! 🙂
My friend’s little girl had a Fancy Nancy/Dapper Dan party. It was really cute. Of course she had the all the girly stuff, but she also ordered top hats for the boys and bow ties. Just a thought. I love planning parties.
