Shabby Picture frame door!
HELLO THERE~
Here is a shabby Picture Frame door, I re-finished. I LOVE LOVE antique stores. I think the love comes from my grandma V. who loved going to them as well as swap meets when I was younger. I loved going with her growing up. However, much older, I appreciate them alot more now. I went antique shopping with my sister Thursday afternoon. We went to two local antique stores. I had $20.00 bucks to spend. The first one we hit we scoured and scoured.. I did NOT see anything that JUMPED OUT AND SAID BUY ME! You know you have to have that “SQUEAL” moment. Well we hit the second store and scoured it as well. My sis found something, and then I said lets go back to the other one and look one more time. SO GLAD WE DID! I didn’t even hit this one small section. THERE was this door hanging on the on the wall… “SQUEAL” entered my head and I grabbed it and found my gem. I SAID TO MY SIS… “FOUND IT!” best part $18.00 bucks so I stayed UNDER my budget. SCORE, WIN!
BEFORE~ can we say “PUKE” it was this hideous brown coral red marble puketrid color! well I thought so anyway. 😉
AFTER!
WA-LA with pictures in it. It’s a “Picture frame Door” but It did not come with the glass. However, I had exactly two pieces of glass left over from two frames I took apart. I used the pictures you see in it for now. However, I will be re-placing the pics. with black and white group pics. of my three Chickie’s.
after I painted the door with wicker white acrylic paint, I glazed the edges, sanded the edges and beat it up with tweezers…. HA! Scraping away at the paint.
and look at the knob that “they” ADDED! HELLO! that is truly what sold me on this piece! seriously the color was gag awful… but I new I could paint it. When I saw that cute knob… I freaked or wait… “SQUEALED!”
I love that hinges were put on this too. I mean it wouldn’t be a door without them. 😉
Its hung up by none other~ then my bedroom “DOOR”!
I had fun playing with the CRYSTAL KNOB that is my fav. I hung a little twig wreath from it to see if I liked it.
I also hung pearls from it for fun. I wore those pearls on my wrist as a bracelet in the pictures. They were my moms, passed down to me.
do you see that sweet baby face. MY little Miss will be “5” Aug. 1st. sad face!

No wonder you passed over it the first time around…I agree the original color was…uh…not pretty! But now it is fabulous! I just love the pearls on that gorgeous knob!

A great trash to treasure project. You are right, the original color is awful. You have a good eye. Lisa~

What a great find and an even better transformation! I especially love the doorknob. Saw this over at Anything Related. I’ve stood in front of doors thinking “what am I going to do with it” and passed them up but not next time! After all it’s just a bigger window and I buy those!
Love the look and how this turned out. Visiting by way of All Thingz Related

I love everything about this — the door — the photos — the color — the knob. Everything is lovely!
Wow – I love this idea. My hubby is always finding old door/windows from remodel projects he does – and I think he has a few crystal door knobs too. Hmm – maybe I can have him put one of the door knobs on one of the old windows. And I love what you’ve hung off the doorknob. As I was reading it, I kept thinking it needs something handing from the knob. And as I got down further – loved the idea of the pearls.

VERY CUTE!! I need one of these! I’m a follower! Come by and say hi at Sassy Sites! 😉
Super fabulous!! I love how you distressed it. 🙂
What a great re-do and under budget to boot!!! Love the knob with the pearls. Your choice of photos was dead on, they work so well with the frame and the knob!!

Oh, this makes me so sad to see this. I had saved 3 doors from a tear down that would have made beautiful displays like yours and the contractor threw them away! Duh! Does he know nothing? They go for a fortune.
Your project is spectacular. Sad, that they grow up, but 5 is so fun.
Coming to you from 504 Main.
OMGosh, I totally love this!! You’ve inspired me a bit. I have this old shabby window with a scene (that I don’t really like) painted on the glass….I think I might take the paint off and see where my imagination goes from there!! Thanks so much for posting this!
