Ideas To Enhance Your Garden This Summer

Are you looking to get the most from your garden this summer? If you think your garden is underperforming, you may be looking for ideas to enhance it. And there are lots of ways you could do it.

From adding more plants, to brightening up the bare patches. Here’s three ideas that make good sense and won’t cost a fortune.

Rejuvenate your social spaces
If you’re lucky enough to have a social space, such as a patio or garden decking, then there’s lots you can do to enhance it. If yours has been gathering moss over the last few years, the first thing to do is
rejuvenate it.

Cleaning, weeding, and carrying out any required maintenance such as checking for rotten wood, reoiling or painting, replacing broken pavers and filling paving joints.

Freshening up the space is one thing, but you may want to enhance it further by softening the space.

Make sure your planting doesn’t stop at your decking or patio but carries on around it. This is essential for creating a more natural area. So, add in containers, pots and hanging baskets that are overflowing with trailing leaves.

Make brighter flower displays

Bright floral displays are what make a garden. So, getting your beds and borders in good condition and getting the right plants in place, is essential. Check your beds and borders have adequate drainage and improve your soil health by adding in compost and topping with mulch.

If you want to create some colorful and vibrant displays, you need to look at organizing your lanting. Taller plants, trees or shrubs should be at the back, with smaller plants and flower towards the front.

Choose plants that not only flower in a variety of colors but also flower in different months, so you have a longer-lasting display.

Use every bit of space
Another great way to enhance your backyard or garden is to make the most of every bit of space you have. So, even if you only have a tiny garden, you can still grow lots of plants and create a green oasis.

If space is short, then vertical gardening is worth some consideration. And it doesn’t need to be complicated as ready-made starter kits are available to buy.

All you need to do is fix it to your wall or fence and get planting. Alternatively, you could make your own vertical garden by upcycling wood or simply fixing rows of plant pots to your walls or fences.
