With summer coming around soon, it’s time to start looking out for common pests such as mosquitos and planning or day (and our homes) around repelling them. Pests can be both dangerous and annoying, so it’s always a good idea to look for ways to get them out of your life. In this article, we’re going to share a couple of tips and tricks on how you can get rid of the most problematic pests that will come with summer.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs aren’t a summer pest, but due to the amount of travelling we tend to do, it’s important to look out for them as well. This is because bed bugs are hitchhiking bugs; they love to travel in your bags and clothes, making it very easy to suddenly have an infestation of bed bugs in your home when there were previously none. If you ever wonder what do bed bugs look like, then it’s a good idea to get acquainted with these little pests so that you can identify not just their bodies, but also the stains they leave behind and what their bite marks look like. Before you check into a hotel room, make sure you do a thorough check and inspect places like mattress seams and corners for black marks.

Mosquitos

Mosquitos thrive in areas with a lot of water. Florida, for instance, is a place known for having lots of mosquitos due to a large majority of the state being wetland. Mosquitos breed wherever there’s water, and they can do so even in the most unlikely of places. For instance, your gutters could become breeding spots and any small puddles of water created in toys or in your garden are enough for mosquitos to use. In addition to spraying your clothing with repellent, make sure you empty out any puddles of water that form after rain.

Ants

Ants are incredibly common pests that also thrive in the summer. They love warm weather and they often find their way into your garden or home due to food attracting them. For instance, if you’re growing fruits in your garden, then they can quickly attract all kinds of pests and ants are among some of the first to rear their heads. In addition, if you leave out bits of food or neglect to take out the trash more often during summer, then you might end up with some unwanted pests that will quickly overrun your home. Stay hygienic, look out for ants and consider hiring a pest control specialist if you can’t deal with them.

It’s understandable that, in some circumstances, it may be difficult to avoid certain pests. For instance, if you live near water then you might find that mosquitos are far more common and more of a nuisance than other pests. However, as long as you find ways to repel them and keep them away from your home, you’ll find that summer can be that much more enjoyable.
